John P. Turner, P.E., B.I.E., LEED AP

Areas of Expertise

John Turner is a Multi-Discipline (Architectural and Electrical) Licensed Professional Engineer in New Hampshire, Massachussetts and Montana, specializing in building technology and construction. He is also a Board Certified Building Inspection Engineer. Further, John is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional. This achievement allows John to certify a building's performance and compliance with the LEED standards, an international benchmark for design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

As president of Criterium-Turner Engineers (CTE), he has diverse experience in all facets of construction. His specialities include residential and commercial inspection, design, energy-efficiency, renovation consulting, condominiums/association properties and forensic engineering.

John has provided these services as Criterium-Turner Engineers since 1993. He and his team are recognized by real estate professionals, consumers, builders, legal and business leaders as the best in the business. John has a proven track record of competence, integrity and committment as a building inspection & design engineer.

John is the President of Criterium-Turner Engineers. He is responsible for development and management of the firm. John is actively involved on a daily basis in building evaluation, design, and architectural engineering. He provides seminars on a variety of topics related to the design, construction and maintenance of buildings.

Qualifications

Before owning and operating the New Hampshire office of Criterium-Turner Engineers, John worked for a sister company, Criterium-Lalancette Engineers in Vermont. John performed hundreds of building pre-purchase inspections. Prior to his engineering experience, John worked as a Construction Foreman. He designed and installed irrigation systems, site drainage and access, landscaping, retaining walls, patios, fences, roads, utility entrances, and a variety of outdoor structures for residential and commercial properties. John also renovated and installed floors, windows, siding, insulation, sills, framing, roofs, chimneys, porches, decks and barns. John served as the Assistant Building Inspector in Dunbarton, New Hampshire from 2001-2003.

John worked for Bangor Hydro-Electric Company in Bangor, Maine as a Licensed Energy Advisor. John gained and understanding and knowledge of how to use computers in design and analyzing structural, electrical and mechanical systems through his work at Texas Instruments.

Education

John completed studies in 2004 to earn his Architectural Engineer’s License. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine (1988).

Personal

John resides in Dunbarton, NH with his wife Renee, and children - Maria, Carlos, & Cecilia. He loves to enjoy the Great Outdoors of New England with his family. John is active at St. Theresa's Parish in Henniker, NH and at Catholic Schools where his children attend: Villa Augustina in Goffstown and Holy Family in Manchester.


Terry Terry, P. E., B.I.E.

Area of Expertise

Terry Terry is a Civil Engineer with over 30 years of engineering experience. He is also a Board Certified Building Inspection Engineer. During his career he has managed projects ranging from multi-million dollar fast track engineering and construction to small scale housing renovation and upgrades. From this experience, Mr. Terry gained an in depth knowledge of building construction and maintenance. He has inspected a multitude of buildings and projects for compliance with plans, specifications, and codes.

Qualifications

Mr. Terry has been a member of Criterium-Turner Engineers since 1997. During this time he has performed numerous residential and commercial building evaluations along with environmental site assessments and other special studies. His contributions to Criterium-Turner Engineers resulted in his selection as the Criterium-Engineers national Engineer of the Year for 2003.

Before joining the Criterium-Turner Engineers team, Mr. Terry was an officer in the United States Navy's Civil Engineer Corps until he retired in 1995. He held positions of increasing scope and responsibility in construction management, contracting, and public works administration at Navy and Army commands. He earned several awards for meritorious service during his Naval career.

Education and Organizations

Mr. Terry holds both a Bachelor in Science (1974) and a Masters of Engineering (1975) in Civil Engineering from Clarkson College of Technology. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. He is also registered as a Professional Engineer with the National Counsel of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. He is a Board Certified Building Inspection Engineer.

Mr. Terry is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers.


Denny R. Townson, P.E.

Area of Expertise

Denny obtained his registration as a Professional Engineer in Louisiana over 25 years ago. His engineering career has provided experience in the design and construction of control systems, electrical power distribution systems, and high frequency communication systems. He also has considerable experience in the construction and maintenance of mechanical equipment and structures operating in hazardous commercial environments.

Denny joined Criterium-Turner Engineers in 2002 and is responsible for conducting residential and commercial building evaluations, environmental assessments, capital reserve studies, and other special engineering studies and assessments.

Prior to joining Criterium-Turner Engineers, Denny most recently worked in the field of management consulting, assisting clients in the analysis of their business operations. He worked with executives as well as with shop floor people to analyze and improve operations, equipment, procedures, and processes.

Qualifications and Education

Denny holds a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla, Missouri. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New Hampshire and Louisiana. He has received training on the requirements of residential inspection techniques and requirements as specified by the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers, and the American Society of Home Inspectors and on the inspection requirements for commercial and environmental assessments as specified by the American Society for Testing Materials.

Denny was awarded Criterium Engineers, Engineer of the Year for 2005. This award is given to the outstanding engineer from consideration of all engineers in all Criterium offices across the entire United States.


Nancy Nichols, P.E., B.I.E., LEED AP

Nancy obtained her registration as a Professional Engineer in New Hampshire over 15 years ago. Further, Nancy is an Accredited Professional for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). This achievement allows Nancy to certify a building's performance and compliance with the LEED standards, an international benchmark for design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

Nancy joined Criterium-Turner Engineers in 2008 and is responsible for conducting commercial property condition assessments, residential home inspections, limited evaluations & mechanical inspections, building energy performance evaluations and other special engineering studies & assessments. Nancy has been responsible for design & implementation of ice dam mitigation measures of large upscale condominium complexes. In addition, Nancy has provided litigation support on a wide range of issues including drainage, hydrology and retaining wall design.

Prior to joining Criterium-Turner Engineers, Nancy worked in the field of geo-environmental consulting, assisting clients to manage their environmental liabilities and provide safe living and working environments. She has performed hundreds of Environmental Site Assessments on properties ranging from shopping malls to automotive service stations to individual facilities. She worked with a wide range of client-types ranging from developers, architects & attorneys to municipalities & regulators. She was responsible for the development and implementation of projects, and oversight of contractors and junior professional staff.

Her engineering career has provided experience in the design and construction of foundations, subsurface geotechnical and environmental investigations, environmental site assessments, environmental risk assessments, indoor air quality evaluations, remedial design & implementation & litigation. She has performed investigation to closure of petroleum & hazardous waste sites, solid waste facilities, and Brownfield sites. A number of these included assessment and abatement of asbestos and hazardous building materials.

Al Greene

Area of Expertise

Al's experience includes Architectural Designer for GM Roth Design Remodeling where he was responsible for the design of high end additions. Al interfaced with his clients to identify structural needs, reviewed all design and preconstruction for code and structural requirements. Working with his clients, Al performed initial site consultations, as-built measurements and site reviews.

Al was Engineering Assistant to Lewis Builders, where he supervised the construction of a 75-unit subdivision and designed housing units for new subdivision.

From 1993 to March of 1997, Al was the owner of a cabinet shop, which is one of his personal enjoyments.
